#CrankChaos – Maluti Mountain Bike Festival
Revolutionising the Mountain Bike Industry. #CrankChaos is a microsite where packages for the event are sold. The Gearbox Creative has built a full listing of all accommodation units. Riders and spectators can choose the package that they are after. The first festival took place in the last weekend of October 2016 and will now be an annual event. The site needed a huge amount of management during the lead up to the event, but now that the event is complete we will be putting the site into more of an informational and news portal. We will begin working on the site again when the event kicks off again in 2017.
The #CrankChaos MTB Festival is a bucket list event and brings something completely different to the traditional mountain biking calendar.
#CrankChaos will emulate events like Crankworx and the Colorado Freeride Festival. It will bring the best in mountain biking together for a weekend of magical trails and hospitality at Afriski. Afriski is situated in the beautiful Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. At 3 222m above sea level, this will make it the highest festival of its kind on the African continent.
Three time Downhill Mountain Bike World Champion, Greg Minnaar, has taken a personal interest in the event. He had the following to say: “#CrankChaos is what South African mountain bikers have been waiting for, similar festivals happen all over the world, it’s about time we had one of our own. I’m really excited about the location and the format and can’t wait to be there come October.”
The Concept to #CrankChoas
For the first time in Southern Africa, #CrankChaos will be revolutionizing the way consumers interact with the latest gear and equipment in the Mountain bike industry. By bringing together the biggest brand names in mountain biking, participants will be able to practically test and rate the tech on show. They will also be able to engage with and ask questions of the respective brands and manufacturers. They can maximize their experience by hooking onto the only Mountain Bike Uplift in Africa. This will give them over 200m in vertical gain in under 7 minutes. Once at the top, they can then choose from a myriad of tracks to get down the mountain again. This will test both their skills and the bikes and equipment in their natural environment.
The Festival will offer a variety of fun event options including, 5 different downhill lines, enduro, marathon, slope style, cross-country, downhill eliminator and out rides for the more social riders on its extensive trail network. Add to that the opportunity to test and ride the latest in mountain bike technology, awesome live evening entertainment and the traditional world class Afriski hospitality and you can be sure that this is a weekend not to be missed! With only 200 guaranteed spots available you don’t want to miss out.
